Salim Segaf Aljufri, Chairman of the Majelis Syuro of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), expressed his confidence in President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s ability to lead Indonesia to become a regional leader in ASEAN. Salim shared this belief during his visit to Prabowo’s residence at Jalan Kertanegara No. 4, South Jakarta, on Friday afternoon (October 11).
Salim stressed the significance of unity among all national components, especially in addressing global conflicts that could have an impact on Indonesia.
“Given the current global situation of uncertainty and conflicts such as those in Russia and Ukraine, as well as the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people, it is essential for us to come together and strategize on how our nation can navigate these challenges, as the repercussions will surely be felt here,” Salim stated.
He highlighted Indonesia’s potential as a major nation, with its abundant natural resources and large population, asserting that Indonesia should aspire to lead the ASEAN region.
“As a vast nation in terms of both territory and population, and with our abundance of natural resources, we should aim to be the leading force in this region. I firmly believe that Prabowo Subianto is capable of assuming that role,” Salim added.
Salim also emphasized Indonesia’s leadership role in supporting Palestine’s right to independence, emphasizing the strong historical ties between the two nations.
“If this leadership position is realized, I am confident that our beloved nation will continue to stand by Palestine. They deserve the right to achieve independence, just as they were the first to acknowledge and endorse Indonesian independence when we gained ours,” Salim expressed.
To commemorate the strong relationship between Prabowo and PKS, Salim shared a special pantun (a traditional Indonesian poem), symbolizing the deep connection between Prabowo and the party.
“Our relationship with Mr. Prabowo Subianto is rooted in history and deep affection—a bond that resides in our hearts,” Salim conveyed before reciting the pantun:
“Tahu dilempar di Pantai Belawan, Rame berterbangan burung merpati,
Jauh sudah kami berjalan
Namun hubungan yang indah tersebut tetap di hati kami.”
He then concluded with:
“Kalau tak ada kapal pinisi, Manalah sanggup kita arungi dunia,
Kalau lah kami tidak berkoalisi, Manalah sanggup majukan bangsa.”
Salim’s poetic words symbolize the enduring collaboration between PKS and Prabowo as they work together to build a stronger Indonesia.
