CEPA Finalized: Prabowo Opens Door for Indonesian Products in EU

President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, proudly announced the successful conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations between Indonesia and the European Union. This significant achievement marks a breakthrough in providing broader access for Indonesian products and commodities in the EU market. After a decade of negotiations, President Prabowo expressed his excitement during his meeting with European Council President António Costa in Brussels on Sunday (13 July).

CEPA signifies a free trade agreement between Indonesia and the European Union, resolving all previously contested trade items. President Prabowo highlighted the importance of this agreement, stating that almost all items have been agreed upon with no outstanding issues. He emphasized the opportunity for greater European participation in Indonesia’s economy, showcasing the mutually beneficial nature of the partnership. While the EU brings expertise in science, technology, finance, and management, Indonesia offers critical resources and strategic agricultural commodities.

President Prabowo underscored the symbiotic relationship between Indonesia and the EU, acknowledging Europe’s commitment to peace and global stability. He emphasized the need for deeper cooperation in an ever-evolving global landscape. The CEPA agreement is set to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Indonesia and the EU, laying a new foundation for enhanced bilateral relations.
