Known for his advocacy of Pancasila-based economics, Kwik Kian Gie, a prominent economist and political figure, passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025. President Prabowo expressed his condolences and highlighted Kwik’s significant contributions to the nation’s development, particularly in promoting the Pancasila economy. He praised Kwik not only for his expertise as an economist but also as a friend and mentor who had offered valuable insights over the years. Despite his passing, Kwik remained engaged until the end, sharing recommendations and thoughts with the President. Prabowo underscored the close bond he shared with Kwik and the wisdom he had imparted, emphasizing the loss of a remarkable figure and a cherished son of Indonesia.
