National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is actively working to enhance local employment opportunities by hiring workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from individuals living in extreme poverty. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, mentioned that a minimum of 30% of the staff in each SPPG will be chosen from disadvantaged households, aligning with the President’s directive to ensure that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program contributes to job creation. Currently, there are 2,378 SPPG units in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, with 93,572 community members volunteering in the program. The MBG Program has impacted over 7.4 million individuals nationwide, including students from various education levels, pregnant and breastfeeding women, toddlers, and more. In an effort to reach more people, BGN is planning to introduce 2,401 additional SPPG units in the next 10 days, with a goal of providing services to around 15 million beneficiaries. This move demonstrates a significant commitment to supporting job opportunities and addressing nutritional requirements in underserved communities.
