Semangat “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” dalam Kostum Paralimpiade Paris 2024: Sebuah Karya Utama oleh Didiet Maulana

2024 Paris Paralympics will showcase the hard work and determination of Indonesian Paralympians. As preparations continue, the design of costumes for the Indonesian contingent is being finalized. Didiet Maulana, through his brand IKAT Indonesia by Didiet Maulana, is responsible for designing the costumes this time around. The costumes are inspired by the concept of “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (Unity in Diversity), which is a strong foundation for the designs. The collection includes jackets, jerseys, and track pants that focus on embodying the values of unity and diversity, hallmarks of the Indonesian nation.

The “Sandya Niskala” design series incorporates elements of traditional ikat weaving, representing the richness and diversity of Indonesian culture. The design also features geometric patterns resembling dynamic ocean waves, inspired by Indonesia as an archipelagic nation. These motifs symbolize the struggle and optimism of the athletes in competition. The design draws inspiration from the Garuda Pancasila, the national emblem of Indonesia, with feather motifs symbolizing strength, unity, and solidarity.

The color scheme of the costumes includes red, white, gold, and touches of gray, each carrying deep meaning. The colors aim to bring an energetic vibe, a sense of renewal, and good hopes for the Indonesian athletes competing in the 2024 Paris Paralympics. A photo session was held with Indonesian Paralympians to celebrate the launch of the collection, themed “Embrace and Celebrating Our Athlete.” The collection will soon be accessible through social media and available for purchase through Mills coinciding with the 2024 Paris Summer Paralympic Games.

Didit Hediprasetyo designed the costumes for the Indonesian contingent at the 2024 Paris Olympics, drawing inspiration from the national song “Berkibarlah Benderaku” (Fly My Flag). Both Didiet Maulana and Didit Hediprasetyo have made significant contributions to designing costumes that carry messages of pride and unity for Indonesia on the international stage.
